On Monday morning, New Zealand Taylor Swift fans woke up to the sound of her latest single, 'Ready For It', and some immediately started theorising who the song is about.
Currently, there appear to be two major contenders: Joe Alwyn, the British actor she's rumoured to be dating, or her fellow pop star ex Harry Styles.
The lyrics of 'Ready For It' talk about a love interest who is "younger than [Swift's] exes but he acts like such a man, though". This suggests it could be Alwyn, 26, or Styles, 23; both younger than her exes Calvin Harris, 33, and Tom Hiddleston, 36.
The song itself has garnered mixed reactions.
Rolling Stone labelled it "assertive", "aggressive", and "another declaration and opening salvo of the 'new Taylor' as the singer continues to embrace her dark side".
"While still distinctly Swift, the track bears a more electronic sound than any of her previous singles," adds author Daniel Kreps for the music magazine.
Twitter has responded with both assertions on who the song is about and what internet users think of it, of course.
'Ready For It' is the second season from forthcoming album Reputation, due for release on November 10.
