Actress Claire Foy has reassured viewers she took "no offence" when comedian Adam Sandler put his hand on her leg after she swatted it away during a taping of The Graham Norton Show.

Viewers took to social media to say the Foy, 33, looked unhappy with the 51-year-old Grown Ups star's touching.

She labelled Harvey Weinstein a "predator" in the wake of his sexual abuse scandal and said while behaviour is "endemic" in Hollywood, what Sandler did was entirely innocent.

"We don't believe anything was meant by Adam's gesture and no offence was caused to Claire," a representative for the star of The Crown told Metro.co.uk.

A spokesperson for Sandler added the outcry was "completely ridiculous", saying his placing a hand on Foy's thigh was a "friendly gesture".
