Harry Potter star Tom Felton, has been revelling in Auckland's nightlife whilst here for Armageddon.

He was one of the main attractions of the science fiction expo, which ran from October 20-23.

Best known for playing Slytherin and Potter's arch nemesis Draco Malfoy in the hit Harry Potter franchise, Felton was by all accounts "a lovely guy".

Bar 101 owner John Lawrenson got a picture with the actor when he was there celebrating the end of the expo with other staff and stars.

"He was there having a few drinks, just hanging out," Lawrenson told Newshub. "He was really friendly and polite, [and] thanked everyone for their hospitality."

According to the Armageddon website, to get a photo with Felton at the expo cost $80, so Lawrenson says he was "pretty stoked" to get his 'gram for free. "I've got a very jealous daughter and very jealous girlfriend who are both big Harry Potter fans," he laughed.

"For a guy who's very recognisable and has a massive net worth, [currently about NZD$50 million] he was just a lovely, down to earth guy."

This sentiment was echoed by Reece Turbill, who works at Cibo in Ponsonby.

Felton dined there on Saturday night, with some other Armageddon stars, including Nathan Fillion from Castle

"They were just having dinner, they were really chilled and well behaved - they were just there for the food," he said.

"They came out the back afterwards for some photos, [Felton] was so lovely, he didn't mind taking photos with us at all."
