Rapper Nelly has been arrested on second-degree rape charges, after an alleged incident on his tour bus in Washington on Saturday morning (local time).
But the performer's lawyer has told TMZ the allegations are "completely fabricated", and motivated by greed and vindictiveness.
Nelly is currently is currently on tour with country-pop due Florida Georgia Line, and is due to perform on Saturday night at Ridgefield, Washington, where the alleged incident occurred.
The complainant claims Nelly raped her in the bus, parked in a Walmart lot, at 3:48am. He was booked at 7am and released shortly after.
But his lawyer insists he is the victim of a "completely fabricated allegation".
"Our initial investigation clearly establishes the allegation is devoid of credibility, and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness.
"I am confident, once the scurrilous accusation is thoroughly investigated, there will be no charges. Nelly is prepared to pursue all legal avenues to redress any damage caused by this clearly false accusation."
Best known for his hit single 'Hot in Herre', Nelly won Grammy Awards in 2003 and 2004, and also starred in the 2005 remake of The Longest Yard, with Adam Sandler and Chris Rock.
