The Halloween hashtag making horror films more British

A new hashtag doing the rounds on Twitter is giving the film industry's most iconic horror movies a distinctly British feel.

#MakeAHorrorMovieBritish has been trending on the social media platform, and has left users scratching their collective heads in the hopes of a clever UK-centric quip.

And there have been some crackers so far, with the likes of Brexit, Prime Minister Theresa May, tea and the much-derided town of Hull the butt of a number of jokes.

Others also poked fun at former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, which was perhaps a given when one considers how well his name fits with handicam-style horror The Blair Witch Project.

All the puns are making us want to #MakeAHorrorMovieKiwi now.

Tairua Chainsaw Massacre, anyone?
