Kim Kardashian, Rihanna and Cara Delevingne are just a few celebrities demanding justice for a 29-year-old victim of sex trafficking, who was sentenced to life in prison for shooting her rapist and captor.

Cyntoia Brown was just 16 when she was sex trafficked by a pimp named 'Kutthroat', the Associated Press reports. She was eventually sold to 43-year-old Nashville realtor Johnny Allen who abused her physically and sexually. She testified that he once choked her until she passed out. In 2004,she shot and killed him with his own gun.

She has already served nearly 13 years in prison and, according to Newsweek, will be eligible for parole after serving 51 years behind bars, when she is 67-years-old.

Her story has been told in Dan Birman's 2011 documentary Me Facing Life: Cyntonia's Story, which documents seven years of Brown's trial.

Brown's story has been circulated in a social media post this week, with various celebrities rushing to support her with the hashtag '#FreeCyntoiaBrown'.

Kim Kardahian tweeted that she was contacting her own legal team to see if they can do anything for the prisoner.

"The system has failed. It's heart breaking to see a young girl sex trafficked then when she has the courage to fight back is jailed for life!" she tweeted.

"We have to do better & do what's right. I've called my attorneys yesterday to see what can be done to fix this. #FreeCyntoiaBrown".

British model Cara Delevingne and singer Rihanna took to Instagram to post the same image.

An online petition to free Brown currently has over 150,000 signatures.
