Pop star Pink says a face she pulled during a performance by former rival Christina Aguilera has been misinterpreted as cringing, when she was actually just overcome with emotion.
The 'Raise Your Glass' hitmaker's face quickly became an internet sensation, after she appeared to wince and shake her head during Aguilera's tribute to the late Whitney Houston at Sunday night's American Music Awards.
Pink had a long-running feud with 'Genie in a Bottle' singer Aguilera following their collaboration on 'Lady Marmalade', but claimed their beef was over in a Twitter post earlier this year.
The face she pulled during the performance appeared to revive that hostility, however, and a number of people pointed out how disgusted she looked on Twitter.
But now Pink has moved to defend herself, stating in a Twitter post that the face she pulled wasn't her cringing - it was actually just pure, unbridled emotion.
"Christina f**king killed it tonight for one of our favourite singers ever," she wrote.
"This about Whitney, and I am in awe of Christina's talent. Show the clip where I'm in tears, you negative Nancys."
Pink will be visiting New Zealand in September 2018.
