Tyrese Gibson holidaying in Abu Dhabi instead of visiting daughter

Tyrese Gibson is facing criticism over taking a lavish holiday to Abu Dhabi amid an ongoing custody battle.

The Fast and Furious actor has broken down in tears in videos he's posted online, claiming to be in need of financial help and desperately wanting to see his daughter.

However, Gibson has reportedly not shown up to two recent scheduled visits with his daughter, and is attending a Formula 1 event in the Middle East at the same time he's supposed to be seeing her for two more.

Aleen Khanjian, a lawyer for Gibson's ex, has released a statement: "We were disappointed to learn that Mr Gibson won't be exercising some of the visits with his daughter that we offered him for the next week. Wherever he is, we hope he's getting the help he needs to be the father Shayla truly deserves."

Gibson told his Instagram followers he was heading to Abu Dhabi to see his "non-judgmental family and to take a much needed break from America and the blogs".

Previously, he'd begged his "millionaire and billionaire" friends to come to his aid, then said Will Smith had sent him US$5 million - but that was reportedly false.

Nonetheless, the 38-year-old is being slammed online for taking the Abu Dhabi trip when he claims to be in financial trouble.

Gibson responded to a fan who questioned how he could travel while "broke" by saying it wasn't costing him.

"I'm pretty famous, dude. I never pay for my own travel," Gibson stated. "Ask around, it's the perks of working hard."
