In perhaps one of the strangest recent pairings in Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino is reportedly developing a new Star Trek movie.
Deadline reports the Inglourious Basterds director pitched an idea to producer JJ Abrams, who was responsible for the franchise's big screen re-launch in 2009.

Paramount reportedly liked the idea and is looking to assemble a writer's room to develop Tarantino's concept, with Tarantino himself then directing and Abrams producing.
Both Hollywood heavyweights are currently working on other projects; Tarantino is currently directing a drama set in Los Angeles around the time of the Charles Manson murders, while Abrams is working on Star Wars: Episode IX.
This would be the first time Tarantino has directed a movie that wasn't an original idea of his, although he has directed other people's work in episodes of CSI and ER.
Deadline has received no official confirmation from Paramount or Tarantino on the possible Star Trek project.
