An original, well-made, Christmas-themed scary movie has landed in cinemas and if you're a horror fan, you should probably check it out.
But Better Watch Out is disappointingly lacking in inventive, satisfying gore.
Not all horror movies need gore - some are works of pure tension, others are psychological nightmares and some are straight up fright fests.
But for how thematically twisted and nasty this subversive home-invasion style horror is, to really work it needed to have memorable, graphic kill scenes. And it does not.
It's quickly forgettable, but still enjoyable horror movie.
If you want to see the best Christmas horror ever this silly season, stay home and watch Silent Night, Deadly Night.
