Never known for mincing his words, Ridley Scott has spoken his mind once again, this time about Blade Runner 2049.

The 2017 follow-up to Scott's 1982 classic was heralded as "ground-breaking", "a masterpiece", "phenomenal" and "breath-taking" on its release, but the legendary director has some other words to describe it.

In a new interview with Vulture, Scott declared the blockbuster was "too f**king long".

He then continued, "F**k me! And most of that script's mine."

The film's runtime is two hours and 44 minutes.

Scott also touched on the possibility of him directing a Star Wars film, saying he's never been asked because he's "too dangerous" to become a part of the Star Wars universe.

"I think they like to be in control, and I like to be in control myself," he explained. He also criticised the decision of many larger studios to go with more indie filmmakers for some of their blockbusters, like Colin Trevorrow and Jon Watts heading up Jurassic World and Spider-Man: Homecoming, respectively.

"When you get a guy who's done a low-budget movie and you suddenly give him $180 million, it makes no sense whatsoever. Its f**king stupid," Scott declared.

"You can get me for my fee, which is heavy, but I'll be under budget and on time. This is where experience does matter; it's as simple as that! It can make you dull as dishwater, but if you're really experienced and you know what you're doing, it's f**king essential."
