The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has opened an investigation into a sexual assault accusation against Steven Seagal, it has confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter.

The Under Siege star has been accused of sexual assault or harassment by multiple women, including Katherine Heigl, Jenny McCarthy, Portia de Rossi, Eva LaRue and Julianna Margulies.

Seagal also allegedly raped Regina Simons in 1994, when she was an 18-year-old Mormon and an extra on his film On Deadly Ground.

Ms Simons says she reported the alleged attack to police in December, 2017 - the same month another woman, Faviola Dadis, told the LAPD he sexually assaulted her.

Seagal has denied many of the sexual misconduct claims made against him, but has not commented on the latest accusations.
