New God of War trailer announces April 20 release date

Sony has announced the release date of its upcoming God of War game in a new trailer - the PlayStation 4 exclusive will be released on April 20.

A Collector's Edition has also been announced, which will include a nine inch statue, a cloth map, a steelbook case, two inch Huldra brothers carvings, bonus digital content and a lithograph, and retail for NZ$230.

God of War is set to be rather different from the previous games in the series.

"Living as a man outside the shadow of the gods, Kratos must adapt to unfamiliar lands, unexpected threats, and a second chance at being a father," the official synopsis reads.

"Together with his son Atreus, the pair will venture into the brutal Norse wilds and fight to fulfill a deeply personal quest."

This God of War shares the same name as the original 2005 game, and is the first release in the franchise since 2015's God of War III Remastered.
