Ladi6 has revealed she almost lost consciousness and "nearly died" after suffering a severe allergic reaction to a bee sting over Waitangi weekend.

The Kiwi singer, real name Karoline Tamati, wrote on Facebook on Tuesday that the incident happened around 7pm on Monday night in Mathesons Bay in Auckland.

The 'Like Water' artist wrote that she had to be flown to hospital by the Westpac rescue helicopter, after her throat began closing and she began losing consciousness.

"Literally I was swollen with itchy hives all over my body [and] my face and throat were swelling shut within minutes of a single bee sting from a regular honeybee."

However Tamati wrote that she was now fine, thanks to "quick thinking from a combo of people who I love and love me, and complete strangers [who] saved my life"

She thanked the Snells Beach ambulance service, Leigh Fire Service and the Westpac Rescue helicopter, as well as her husband, niece and nephew.

Only on Saturday Ladi6 was performing in Taupo at a 25th Anniversary show for Salmonella Dub, alongside Tiki Taane and TrinityRoots.
