Eagle-eyed The Bachelor fans got a surprise when a contestant from the latest US season appeared on a missing persons list in Humboldt County, California.

Twenty-two-year-old Rebekah Martinez was reported missing by her mother on November 18 after she had not heard from her daughter since November 12, Buzzfeed reports.

According to authorities Martinez told her mother she was going to work on a marijuana farm for seven or eight days and then simply disappeared.

Her mother told police she had heard from her daughter on December 12, but Martinez could not be taken off the missing person list until she spoke to police directly.

She was still on the list on Thursday when local paper North Coast Journal published an investigation into the Humboldt County's 35 missing persons, including Martinez. Local readers were quick to point out Martinez was currently part of the cast of a national TV show.

Deputies then called Martinez's mother, who was finally able to get them in contact with her and take her off the missing persons list.

It's unclear what Martinez was doing while she was reported missing. The Bachelor reportedly filmed from September to late November.

In September Martinez told Instagram followers she would be taking a break from social media. She returned to the platform on November 22.

When the news broke she poked fun at the situation, tweeting she didn't have cellphone service during filming.

"MOM. how many times do I have to tell you I don't get cell service on The Bachelor??," she wrote.
