Jennifer Lawrence has a strong message to her fans - "dick is dangerous".

The Red Sparrow star broke up with director Darren Aronofsky back in October, and admitted in a candid new interview that she hasn't had sex since due to her fear of contracting a sexually transmitted infection (STI).

"I am not in a relationship," she told The Sun. "I am making it clear that I have not had sex in a very long time. I would like to have a relationship, you know. It is hard out there."

The self-confessed "germaphobe" said she insists someone has an STI check before having sex.

"If I was at the point where I could get an STI, doctors have already been involved," the 27-year-old explained. "That is how much of a germaphobe I am."

The starlet has had several high-profile relationships in the past, including Nicholas Hoult, Coldplay singer Chris Martin, and of course most recently her mother! director Darren Aronofsky. But she called her reputation as a party animal "all bark and no bite".

"I always talk like I want d**k, but the truth is when I look back at my sexual past, it was always with boyfriends. I talk like I like it, but I don't really do it.

"I am mostly also a germaphobe. I have made it this far without an STI. D**k is dangerous."

Lawrence has been particularly open during the media tour for Red Sparrow. She recently told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres that drinking to excess is "the only way to make it through the day".

The Oscar winner turned up drunk for the New York premiere of the action movie, admitting she was "hammered" on wine and shots when walking the red carpet.
