Comedian and filmmaker Kevin Smith has revealed he's "feeling good" while recovering at home following a massive heart attack.

The Clerks filmmaker suffered a majorly blocked artery known as 'the widow maker' in Los Angeles on Sunday night (local time).

Smith has now taken to Twitter to post a photo of himself out of his hospital bed and looking much healthier than in his last post.

"Home again, home again, jiggety-jig!" he wrote in a perky message to fans.

"Home is where the heart is and the heart is feeling good! It's actually getting more blood flow and oxygen than it has in a long time. So I am ALERT, to say the least!"

He thanked fans for their support, and revealed he has made a change to a vegetarian diet.

Smith's near-death experience came while filming a stand up special in Los Angeles. He was rushed to the hospital after experiencing a shortness of breath and nausea, only to find out his LAD artery was completely blocked.

"If I hadn't cancelled show two to go to the hospital, I would've died tonight," Smith wrote in his Instagram post to fans.

Celebrities sent messages of support on social media including Jurassic World star Chris Pratt, who wrote on Twitter that he was "praying [his] ass off".
