Iconic Austrian-American actor Arnold Schwarzenegger is reportedly in a stable condition after undergoing heart surgery.

TMZ reported news of the surgery Saturday morning (NZ time), with sources saying it was required after complications developed with a catheter valve replacement.

A spokesperson for Schwarzenegger told the Los Angeles Times the 70-year-old was stable.

It's reported when he awoke, the first words out of his mouth were "I'm back".

The Austrian-born actor and bodybuilder also had elective heart surgery in 1997 to replace an aortic valve.
