Coronation Street star Bill Roache has hit out at false reports that he died through his representative, who reportedly says the actor will not comment on "fake news".
The 85-year-old, who plays Ken Barlow in the British soap opera, was apparently the victim of a hoax website which is said to have faked a statement from his son.
The stunt is especially cruel considering Roache recently lost his 50-year-old daughter Vanya, who died after suffering liver failure.

Mirror Online reports that popular UK radio station Classic Oldies upset listeners by reporting the fake news story, only to apologise once being corrected.
"We received this information from reliable news sources which is why we announced it," the station reportedly stated.
"We're pleased to report William Roache is still very much alive and well! Apologies again."
Roache has reportedly just returned to filming on Coronation Street after taking time off to mourn his daughter's death.
