Jay Z has opened up about cheating on his wife Beyoncé, saying he's put in the work "for years" to fix his wrongdoings.

The rapper finally admitted to his infidelities in 2017 to T Magazine after years of speculation.

In 2014 a video surfaced of his sister-in-law Solange Knowles verbally and physically attacking him in an elevator.

In 2016, Beyoncé fuelled the fire with her controversial album Lemonade, which addressed her husband's infidelities made references to "Becky with the good hair".

"You can taste the dishonesty/It's on your breath as you pass it off so cavalier," she sang.

On David Letterman's new Netflix show, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, Jay Z says he's proud of how far he's come since then.

"Much like you, I have a beautiful wife who was understanding and who knew I'm not the worst of what I've done.

"We did the hard work of going to therapy. We love each other, so we really put in the work for years."

Jay Z told Letterman they're in a "better place" now.

"I'm proud of the father and the husband that I am today."

The pair have three children together - Blue Ivy Carter, six, and 10-month-old twins Rumi and Sir Carter.
