A disturbing video showing patched gang members threaten and abuse acclaimed Kiwi actor James Rolleston has emerged online.

The footage, posted on Facebook, has what appear to be Mongrel Mob members hurl insults at the Boy  star from inside a car, before driving off.

"What's your name, bro?" asks one of the men, prompting a big smile from Rolleston as he walks up to the car.

He then jumps backward as the man opens the car door aggressively and starts to issue violent threats.

"Wanna fight then, p***y? ... Little bitch ass n****r! Little f****t!"

The man then turns the camera on his own tattooed face as others in the car laugh.

"We just stepped out Boy," he says, also yelling at the actor, "Your movie was shit".

A spokesperson for Rolleston confirmed to NZME the incident was filmed at Tauranga's waterfront in 2017.

The 20-year-old was sentenced last year to community service, supervision and one year of driving disqualification after pleading guilty to a dangerous driving charge, following a 2016 crash that seriously injured him.

His other film credits include The Dark HorseThe Dead Lands and upcoming comedy The Breaker Upperers.
