Women's Day is receiving backlash on social media for their recent cover.

The magazine published a heavily photoshopped cover featuring the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with their newborn baby.

Following a tweet by Hilary Barry, Twitter users voiced their distaste for the digital alteration, with many saying the couple looked better in the unedited photograph.

Ms Barry went onto write "...despite turning up on the hospital steps looking AMAZING hours after birthing that child - she still wasn't good enough for Woman's Day."

The broadcaster posted a photo of herself bedridden hours after giving birth in comparison to the Duchess.

Many Kiwi mothers shared their own post-labour photos in celebration of the Duchess' feat

Woman's Day declined to comment.
