Ellen DeGeneres accidentally introduces Jenna Dewan using surname of Channing Tatum, her ex

Ellen DeGeneres made a grovelling apology to guest Jenna Dewan after accidentally introducing her as Jenna Dewan-Tatum, her full married name from her relationship with Channing Tatum.

Considering the couple split on April 2 - also known as the day that love died - after nine years of marriage, including the name of Jenna's ex wasn't particularly appropriate.

The Ellen host quickly corrected her mistake during the introduction, but she took the time to do further damage control at the end of the segment.

"I have to say, before we go to break, I'm so sorry," Ellen said.

"I introduced you, and it was just such a habit. I have to say, the way you and Channing are handling everything is beautiful for your daughter, and the statements have been great. And I apologise; I just have known both of you for so long."

Jenna graciously thanked the host her for apology, but not before receiving a comforting hand-squeeze from fellow guest on the couch, Jennifer Lopez.

"I know," Jenna replied. "Thank you. And I mean, honestly, thank you and everybody for all the love and the support. It's truly so moving so thank you."

The Step Up star's ex-husband Channing is likely blissfully unaware of the blunder, recently posting on Instagram about getting away from it all with a landscape shot captioned 'Sanctuary'.
