'Jacinda Ardern' tries to ban Jono and Ben in new promo

In a brand new video promoting the return of Jono and Ben on Three, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern tries to stop them from broadcasting altogether - at least, that's what it looks like.

The video is set up like a Beehive press conference, with an excited media scrum asking the leader of New Zealand about the fate of the comedy duo.

Laura Daniel, a veteran of the show and fellow comedy Funny Girls, bears a striking resemblance to the real Ms Ardern in the footage.

Jono and Ben's new season returns at the end of the month, with the pair being joined by fellow comedians Brynley Stent, Hayley Sproull, Chris Parker, Kura Forrester, Ray O'Leary and Angella Dravid, among others.

The 2018 season will feature Jono and Ben as they interview celebrities while drunk, create a game show set in an elevator and send Guy Williams to the regions with his new segment 'New Zealand Today'.

Daniel is set to reprise her role as Ms Ardern throughout the season, too.

The new season of Jono and Ben premieres Thursday, May 31, at 7:30pm on Three.
