Dancing With The Stars NZ: Sam Hayes dominates with powerful Paso Doble

  • 11/06/2018

Newshub Live at 6pm presenter Sam Hayes has closed off the week of Dancing With The Stars NZ with a bang, taking to the dancefloor with another powerful performance.

For the show's Latin-themed week, Hayes and partner Aaron Gilmore performed a fierce Paso Doble to Swedish House Mafia's 'Don't You Worry Child'.

They were the final pair to perform for the week and the fiery routine opened with Gilmore spinning a dramatic black-and-red lure, featuring multiple high kicks from Hayes before ending with the journalist forcefully pushing Gilmore away.

It received roaring applause from the live audience and equally supportive comments from the judges.

"That was one fiery and amazing performance," judge Camilla said.

"Hot and steamy Sam - I liked it a lot," Julz added.

Hayes scored 8, 8 and 9 for a total of 25, leaving her tied for first place with cricketer Chris Harris. Last week's Viennese waltz saw her tied for second place for the second week in a row.

Viewers can help keep their favourite dancer in the competition by texting their first name to 3333 - each text costs 99c and net proceeds go to that star's chosen charity.

DWTS NZ airs Sundays 7pm and Mondays 7.30pm on Three, and all episodes can be viewed again on ThreeNow.
