Kiwi singer Lorde has donated $5000 to Starship in an effort towards funding five new portable neurology monitors.

Auckland burger joint Burger Burger shared a call for donations on its Instagram page.

"Some of you may be familiar with this smile. This is our beautiful burger baby Miss Olympia.

"She had a major brain injury just before she was born & now we spend A LOT of time at Starship, a hospital filled with beautiful humans trying to make NZ's children better each & everyday they need our help."

They went on to explain that they're trying to help Starship raise enough money to buy five portable neurology monitors, which are lent to parents whose children suffer seizures.

"If 1000 of us donate just $5 we would be able to help them secure this much needed equipment PLEASE take the time to think about what just a small $5 sacrifice for you this weekend would mean to these parents (& us). Thank you for considering."

Lorde soon commented that she had contributed to the cause.

"Glad I clicked on this cute lil bebe  just donated 5k.Love Starship and your yummy burgers."

Fans of Lorde have taken to the comments section of the Instagram post to thank her for her donation.

"Generous queen," one user said.

"You're the kindest person ever," said another.

"You're an angel. Kiwis rule," wrote someone else.
