Meghan Markle chosen over Prince Harry and Kate Middleton for special sleepover with the Queen

Queen Elizabeth II has invited Meghan Markle to join her for a day of engagements in Cheshire next week, which will see the Duchess Of Sussex travel solo with the monarch on the Royal Train.

The use of the luxurious Royal Train is usually reserved strictly for the senior members of the royal family, which includes the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Camilla.

Meghan will be breaking royal tradition once again by spending the night travelling alone with the Queen on the nine-carriage locomotive.

It's been reported that neither Meghan's husband, Prince Harry, nor her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, has ever ridden it before in an official capacity.

Prince William was said to have been allowed to use the train only once, for his birthday, in 2003.

The Royal Train has been called 'Buckingham Palace on wheels', and features several bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a spacious 12-person dining room and Her Majesty's favourite - an ornate bath tub.
