Kiwi armchair critics get ready - Gogglebox NZ is coming to a screen near you

British reality show Gogglebox is set to hit Aoetearoa later this year when it launches on Three as Gogglebox NZ.  The format is simple: watch other people watch TV.

But don't be too quick to dismiss the premise - the show nabbed a BAFTA TV Award in 2014 and has grabbed the attention of audiences world-wide.

New Zealand is the latest iteration of the show, which already has spin-offs in Australia, Belgium, Ireland and Italy

Each episode will give a fly-on-the-wall look into 10 ordinary New Zealand living rooms, as avid and opinionated Kiwi television fans react to a range of programmes

The series will be narrated by Sharyn Casey, host of The Edge's drive show.

"I am obsessed with watching TV, to the point that I plan my life around my viewing habits!" Casey says.

"Gogglebox is a 'see it to believe it' show and you'll fast be addicted to this surprising international phenomenon."

The Dancing With The Stars NZ  host promises a "rollercoaster of emotions" as the show's subjects laugh, cry and cringe at what's on their screens.

The first episode of Gogglebox premiered in the UK in 2013, and has since featured episodes such as 'Gogglesprogs', featuring only children, and a 'Brexit Special' in 2016.
