Much-loved Bachelor NZ contestant Lily McManus has broken up with her reality TV boyfriend Courtney Dober after eight months together.

The pair, who met during filming of The Bachelor Winter Games, shared lengthy messages on their respective social media platforms announcing the split.

"It makes my eyes leak a little bit but myself and Court have decided to split on mutual terms," McManus wrote in a touching post.

"You guys watched us fall in love and it was honestly just as magical as it looked in real life. I never thought I'd be the type of woman to fall in love on TV but now I am that bitch. I am a believer."

"I can already feel the "love is dead" comments brewing but I can promise you guys it is 100 percent alive and well."

Accompanying the caption was a video of her now ex-boyfriend writing 'Lily & Courtney were here' onto a chalkboard.

The couple celebrated their six-month anniversary in June, with Dober posting a selfie of the two alongside a sweet caption, explaining: "6 months with the crusty crab woman. Thanks for being the weirdest person I've ever met and making me feel remotely normal."

McManus appeared on Season 3 of The Bachelor NZ, losing out to Viarni Bright who won Zac Franich's heart. The couple ended their relationship five months later.

Dober posted an equally tear-jerking explanation to his Instagram account, stating: "We're best friends and its become clear to both of us that the emotional side of our relationship just doesn't allow us to be the best versions of ourselves."

"In my eyes this was the moment our relationship began, 8 months, 2 weeks and 2 days ago. Man time flies... I love ya kid."
