Former ER actress shot dead by police in California

Vanessa Marquez, an actress who played the part of Wendy Goldman on the hit TV show ER, has been shot dead by police in her California home.

Marquez was in the show from 1994-1997, she also appeared in the films Stand and Deliver and Twenty Bucks.

Lt Joe Mendoza of the Los Angeles county sheriff department said officers had arrived at the actresses’ home on Thursday morning local time, the South Pasadena reported.

He said she was suffering from possible seizures and became uncooperative.

Mendoza said she then brought out a gun and the officers opened fire, the South Pasadena reported.

She died later in hospital.

The gun was later found to be a BB gun.

Last year Marquez claimed George Clooney had her blacklisted in Hollywood after she complained of sexism on the set of ER.

Clooney denied the allegation.
