Married At First Sight Australia's Carly announces 'heartbreaking' split from Troy

Married At First Sight Australia stars Carly Bowyer and Troy Delmege have announced they're calling it quits after nine months together.

The pair were originally matched with different partners on the reality TV show, but fell for each other after their respective 'marriages' failed to work.

Carly first broke the news on her Instagram page, calling Troy her "best friend".

"It's with a heavy heart that I tell you that Troy and I have decided to part ways," she wrote.

"We wanted this more than anything and have fought for each other to the end so it's heartbreaking that we've had to make the incredibly difficult decision that our lives no longer align and we are unable to make this work."

Troy echoed Carly's sentiment, sharing his thoughts online about the "very painful situation".

"I want to let you know that Carly and I have decided to go our separate ways... I am so so sorry it hasn't worked out," he wrote in an Instagram caption.

"I knew way back when we met at the first dinner party that Carly was a special girl. She captured my heart in so many ways."

Troy and Carly shocked audiences - and especially Troy's ex-'wife', Ashley Irvin - when they announced their relationship at the show's reunion dinner party.

  • Earlier this year, Carly took to Instagram to "set the record straight" on rumours that she and Troy were on the rocks.

"Troy and I are not breaking up!" she wrote in May.

"Sure, we can drive each other crazy and we do fight but we're totally in love (and Troy is no longer a virgin)."

None of the couples from this year's season of MAFS Australia are still together; although some have gone on to find love outside of the show's pool of personalities.
