Meghan Markle's father Thomas Markle can't seem to help himself when it comes to talking to the press.

In his latest interview with the Daily Mail, Mr Markle admits he "lied" to Prince Harry and then "hung up" on him after the Duke of Sussex called and confronted him about staging paparazzi photos.

Prince Harry and Mr Markle reportedly talked on the phone several times after Meghan and Harry got together - and the royal's first piece of advice for him was to keep a low profile.

"Harry told me that I should never go to the press, that it would end in tears," Mr Markle told the Daily Mail. "He said, 'They will eat you alive'. He was right."

Earlier this year, the Duchess of Sussex's father was exposed as having arranged fake photos being fitted for a wedding suit and reading about his daughter's relationship in an internet café.

Mr Markle admitted he initially lied to Harry when questioned about the pictures, claiming he was being "measured for a hoodie" rather than capitalising on the imminent royal wedding.

Multiple media outlets reported that Mr Markle had sold the photos for as much as £100,000 ($194,000).

Mr Markle said the Duke Of Sussex told him: "If you had listened to me this would never have happened."

He said he replied: "Maybe it would be better for you guys if I was dead... then you could pretend to be sad," before hanging up.

Thomas vowed that this would be his final press interview, despite having promised the same several times already in the past.

"I'm not mad at Harry. I'm not mad at Meghan. I love them. I wish them well," he said. "But as for the rest of it, f**k it. I'm done."
