Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay video thrills the internet

Rockstar Games has released its first look at gameplay in Red Dead Redemption 2 with a six minute video that has gamers champing at the bit.

The open-world action adventure game, set in America's Wild West, is set for release in October for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Red Dead Redemption 2's gameplay video showcases new, complex systems and evolving environments that are highly advanced compared to the first game, which was released in 2010.

A lot of development appears to have gone into maintaining relationships with in-game characters, through complicated conversation options.

"Helping the camp with food and supplies will keep morale high, while spending time with other gang members can reveal new secrets, fun things to do, and opportunities for mischief," says Rockstar in the video.

On social media, reaction to the new video has been overwhelmingly positive, albeit with some complaints over the lack of a PC release.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is set for release in New Zealand on October 26.
