Chrissy Teigen live-tweeted the moment a magnitude 7 earthquake struck Indonesia, leaving her begging for the aftershocks to stop.

At least 82 people are believed to have died after the quake hit Lombok island on Sunday (local time).

It also affected Bali, 50 miles to the east, where Teigen was on vacation with her husband John Legend and their two young children.

"Oh my god," Teigen tweeted to her 10.6 million followers, directly after the quake hit.

"Bali. Trembling. So long."

The Sports Illustrated model said the nature of their accommodation meant she felt particularly vulnerable, so her first instinct was to take her newborn son outside.

"Oh man. We are on stilts. It felt like a ride. Fifteen solid seconds of 'hooooooly shit this is happening'," she wrote.

"I very calmly walked outside saying clutching baby saying 'I'm naked. I'm naked. I'm naked', like a naked zombie."

The sizeable quake hit at a depth of 10km, causing power outages, a tsunami warning and substantial damage to buildings.

Aftershocks continued to rattle the area, one measuring magnitude 4.9.

"I'm either still trembling or these little quakes won't stop - I'M TRYING TO BE NORMAL HERE," Teigen wrote.

Several hours later she tweeted, "another one... small, but please stop, earth."

New Zealand's Justice Minister Andrew Little was also caught up in the quake while in Lombok, calling the experience "pretty terrifying".
