TrinityRoots are set to play a number of special shows to celebrate 20 years as one of New Zealand's most influential music groups.

The shows will see them perform their classic album True in its entirety for the first time.

"That record encapsulated everything that TrinityRoots was as a band at that time," Warren Maxwell said.

"Musically we were exploring our collective jazz, roots and blues influences and also weaving in some New Zealand flavours. But we were also discovering our own individual traits, dynamics and personalities, of which were all imprinted into that record."

True won the inaugural Best Roots Album award at the 2003 New Zealand Music Awards and featured in Nick Bollinger's 100 Essential NZ Albums book.

Since then, the group released their platinum album Home, Land and Sea followed by Music Is Choice and Citizen.

The album will be brought to life with special guest musicians and vocalists in Wellington and Auckland.

The Wellington show will take place at the Opera House on Thursday, November 8.

The Auckland matinee show and evening performance will follow at Q Theatre on Saturday, November 10.

Tickets are available from 7am on Tuesday via Loop.
