'Ashamed' Married At First Sight Australia's Tracey Jewel gives emotional mental health update

Married At First Sight Australia star Tracey Jewel has taken to Instagram to give fans an update on her mental health in an emotional video.

"Although I'm ashamed with how I've handled some things and I'm truly sorry, I'm not ashamed to have gotten some mental health help," she said.

Jewel thanked followers for their support after it was revealed she overdosed when a holiday with ex-boyfriend Patrick Kedemos went south, leaving her stranded in Europe.

"It's been a really hard time for me, as you can imagine, and I've been battling with some pretty heavy stuff both publicly and privately," she said in the video.

Jewel said she was "on the road to recovery," but was pushed to "breaking point" earlier in the year amid allegations she lied about a cancer diagnosis and held a fraudulent competition.

She then reunited with ex-boyfriend Patrick Kedemos, who she now calls "toxic".

"That pushed me over the edge and things spiralled out of control from there."

"I just wasn't able to cope, so I ran away from my problems rather than facing them," she added.

Jewel said her publicity team would no longer be tolerating the cyber-bullying that prompted her to post a defeated message online last month, writing, "you've won trolls."

At the time, she told media outlets that her ex-'husband' from Married At First Sight, Dean Wells, had reached out to support her, despite their rocky past.

In her latest update, Jewel gave "a massive shout out" to Wells, along with fellow co-stars Sarah Roza and Gabrielle Bartlett.
