The new Bond director has been named.

MGM has decided on Cary Joji Fukunaga for steering the 25th Bond movie forward. He is best known for his work on Beasts of No Nation and True Detective.

Trainspotting director Danny Boyle had previously been named as the director, but exited the film in August due to creative differences.

Bond producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli tweeted to say they were delighted with the choice for Boyle's replacement.

"We are delighted to be working with Cary. His versatility and innovation make him an excellent choice for our next James Bond adventure," they said.

The currently unnamed film will start shooting in March 2019, and is expected to be released on February 14 2020.

It is rumoured to be Daniel Craig's last film playing the famous spy.
