'Disgusting' Rotorua rapper Krisy Erin bares bottom at tourists on gondola

Aspiring Kiwi rapper Krisy Erin has come under fire for pulling a vulgar gesture at tourists in Rotorua.

In a video posted on her Instagram account, the 'Stay in Your Lane' singer is seen laughing as she pulls her pants down and points her bare bottom at strangers on the gondola.

Erin laughs in the footage, as does one of her friends holding the camera, who also encourages her: "spread your cheeks".

The post has attracted a large number of comments, with many commenters unhappy.

"In many cultures, Māori and Pakeha (British) included, this is a deeply offensive and disrespectful act. I'm of mostly Scottish heritage and I regard your action as rather foolish," said one.

Baring one's behind at people - often referred to as a 'brown eye' in English or 'whakapohane' in te reo Māori - is considered a gesture of disapproval or contempt in Māori culture.

The mooning of gondola riders was reported on by NZME and posted on Facebook, where further comments have condemned Erin, while others have defended her stunt.

"SHAME! All while wearing a tā moko on your arm. You disgust me," said on Facebook commenter.

"OMG why is our world so PC? Just have fun guys - we have one life, live it," said another.

Many commenters argued Erin should be charged with indecent exposure over the video, while others suggested it wouldn't be a news story if the perpetrator was male.

Erin responded to the negative comments on her Instagram post by suggesting people were "wildin'".

She later posted another photo of her and another woman pursing their lips, with the message: "Kisses to all the haters".
