'It wasn't me': David Schwimmer joins the laugh in criminal doppelganger case

  • 25/10/2018

It was the case of a criminal doppelganger this week as a wanted post by the UK's Blackpool Police bared a striking resemblance to Friends star David Schwimmer.

But rather than ignoring the case of mistaken identity across the Atlantic, Schwimmer got in on the act in hilarious fashion.

The comparison to the criminal was obvious, and the image started circulating online earlier this week, prompting a response from Blackpool Police.

"Thank you to everyone for the speedy responses. We have investigated this matter thoroughly and have confirmed that David Schwimmer was in America on this date."

As memes continued to circulate, the Hollywood star weighed in on the confusion himself, posting a video to his own Twitter account recreating the CCTV footage of the suspected robber.

Schwimmer captioned the video: "I swear it wasn't me, as you can see, I was in New York."

He added: "To the hardworking Blackpool Police, good luck with the investigation."
