Royal Tour: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle talk climate change, hang out with David Beckham on final days of Australian tour

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's final days of their royal tour of Australia began with their plane needing to abandon its landing at Sydney airport.

Returning from their trip to the Pacific Islands, the royal couple's plane was forced to abandon its landing because another aircraft was on the tarmac.

Circling around, the second take was successful, and the pair were whisked away to the Australian National Geographic Awards.

Meghan, in an Oscar de la Renta gown, presented awards to young conservationists, while Harry called on governments to take action on climate change.

"It is going to take every single one of us to stop the clock on the destruction of our planet, and time is not on our side. The standard we walk past is the standard we accept," said the Duke.

But the day's main engagement was joining David Beckham at the Invictus Games, a sporting event for wounded service personnel and veterans founded by Prince Harry four years ago.

Former New Zealand SAS soldier Craig Wilson won gold in the Men's 1500 metres.

"You never know when your success is gonna come. You've just got to keep trying. I never thought this was a race I'd have a chance in but as it turned out it was my day," said Mr Wilson.

The Duke and Duchess will officially close the games tonight at Sydney Olympic Park, before their four day New Zealand tour starts on Sunday.
