Selena Gomez hospitalised after 'emotional breakdown' - report

Selena Gomez has reportedly suffered an "emotional breakdown" after two stints in hospital, and is now seeking care at a psychiatric facility.

TMZ reports that the 'Come & Get It' singer was initially taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in late September due to a low white blood cell count following a kidney transplant last year.

Gomez was allegedly re-admitted days after her release when her medical situation didn't improve, which then caused her to have a "meltdown", according to a TMZ source.

The gossip website claims the source witnessed the 'Hands To Myself' hitmaker "freaking out" and attempting to rip the IV tubes out of her arm.

Gomez is now reportedly in the care of a psychiatric facility, where she is receiving dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT).

In a 2017 interview with Vogue, the 26-year-old pop star praised her experience with DBT as having "changed her life" in reference to her mental health.

"I was depressed, anxious," she said.

"I started to have panic attacks right before getting onstage, or right after leaving the stage."

In September last year, Gomez revealed she had undergone life-saving kidney transplant surgery due to organ damage from the auto-immune disease Lupus.
