UK tabloids in a stir over Meghan Markle's 'see-through skirt' in Rotorua

The royal couple's tour of New Zealand is over, with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle finishing off their trip with a visit to Rotorua on Wednesday.

But amidst all the excitement their visit to the geothermal town created, many missed what may be a glaring wardrobe malfunction.

The Duchess of Sussex appeared to be wearing a completely sheer pleated skirt, which in a certain light revealed an underwear line and bare legs.

The Givenchy item perhaps looks a little more raunchy than it really is, as an optical illusion created by black-blue stripes close to the bottom of the skirt make it look as though her legs can be seen the entire way down.

But while UK tabloids were quick to point out the see-through nature of Meghan's attire, they speculate it may well have been a deliberate choice.

The Mirror explains that Meghan is "fast becoming a fashion icon, known for her bold statements", and may have wanted to go for something a little more adventurous than usual.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle fly out from Auckland on Thursday, and will head back to London.
