Alec Baldwin arrested after punching man in parking dispute

Actor Alec Baldwin has been arrested and charged with assault in New York.

BBC News reports he got into a fight with another man over a parking spot on 10th St in Manhattan.

CBS News reports Baldwin was backing into a parking spot when the other man swooped in from behind and took it. Baldwin got out of his car, followed the other driver to the parking meter and punched him in the face.

The alleged victim was taken to hospital as a result.

Police said he will be charged with third-degree assault and harassment.

US President Donald Trump, whom Baldwin has portrayed on comedy show Saturday Night Live, said he wishes the 60-year-old actor luck.

Baldwin was last arrested in 2014 for disorderly conduct when he was caught riding a bike the wrong way down a one-way street. He has also had a number of confrontations with paparazzi photographers.
