Drax Project wins 2018 VNZMA Single of the Year for 'Woke Up Late'

Drax Project has won Single of the Year for 'Woke Up Late' at the 2018 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards (VNZMAs).

The track has been certified platinum by Recorded Music NZ after gaining popularity on Spotify and receiving widespread support on Kiwi radio stations.

The band thanked the other nominees as well as their own families for first getting them interested in music.

The other nominees for the VNZMA were Mitch James with '21', Robinson with 'Nothing To Regret', Six60 with 'Don't Give It Up', Sons Of Zion with 'Drift Away' and Unknown Mortal Orchestra with 'Hunnybee'.

Drax Project was nominated for multiple Tuis along with Single of the Year - Best Group, Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Best Pop Artist.

The band has opened for the likes of Lorde, Ed Sheeran and Six60 in New Zealand, and Camila Cabello in Europe.

Drax Project is said to be working on its debut studio album, although a release date is yet to be announced.
