The 2018 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards (VNZMAs) featured several impressive performances, but hip-hop artist JessB's easily involved the most performers.

Her 'Set It Off' rocked the crowd at Auckland's Spark Arena and featured a huge group of back-up dancers, who moved off-stage off mid-way through - only to be replaced by an even larger group.

JessB was nominated for Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Best Hip-Hop Artist, but lost to Drax Project and SWIDT, respectively.

The musician, real name Jess Bourke, has been outspoken about inclusion and diversity after growing up as someone of Kenyan descent in New Zealand.

"For people like me ... there was virtually no representation at all. I guess that's one of the reasons why hip-hop was so appealing to me, because I could see all of that - people who looked like me and who I could relate to," she told NZME.
