Megan Annear from The Edge announces engagement, tearfully explains Guy Mansell's romantic proposal

Megan Annear from The Edge radio station has gotten engaged to her co-worker and long-term partner Guy Mansell.

The Edge Breakfast show presenter broke the news to co-hosts Dom Harvey and Clinton Randell on Tuesday morning in an emotional on-air segment.

Megan explained the couple had spent the weekend at Rosebud Cottage in Muriwai, where Guy popped the question shortly after they arrived.

"I heard him say 'hey babe' and I turned around, and he was done on one knee, with a ring box," she said through tears.

"He started to cry, and that made me cry.

"He said to me, 'will you continue to make me the happiest man alive and marry me?' and I said 'yes'."

Megan explained that Guy, who presents The Edge Workday show, had her ring custom-made, and had been working on it since March this year.

Dom and Randell left their microphones momentarily to hug and congratulate their co-host, who joined the show after Jay Jay Harvey moved on from The Edge in 2017.

"Now we're going to need to find some new jokes, though," Dom said, referring to a long-running gag about when Guy would propose.

Megan also revealed she'll be taking Guy's last name, making her Megan Mansell.

"Happy with that," she said. "Kind of like Meghan Markle!"

The pair have not yet chosen a wedding date.
