Tekashi 6ix9ine at risk in 'brutal' New York prison - report

Troubled rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine could potentially be the victim of violence as he's in general population in a "brutal" New York prison, according to reports.

The admitted child sex offender is said to be imprisoned at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn and isn't getting solitary confinement, despite his celebrity status.

Tekashi69, real name Daniel Hernandez, faces a slew of charges as part of a crackdown on the Nine Trey Bloods gang.

Prosecutors claim the 'Gummo' rapper carried out armed robberies and organised gang shootings, while his associates are accused of large-scale drug dealing and other violent crimes.

Traditionally, inmates in prisons around the world that are known for child sex crimes are targeted by other prisoners. Tekashi69 infamously pleaded guilty to being involved in a 2015 sexual act with a 13-year-old girl, which he filmed and posted online.

"The Metropolitan Detention Center is notoriously brutal, with inmates that are 'extremely dangerous, violent, or escape-prone', according to the US Justice Department," reports TMZ.

Additionally, Tekashi69 apparently became a target of former associates - including Nine Trey members - after recent comments he made suggesting division within his crew.

Prosecutors said he was arrested after authorities learned he planned a trip to a Connecticut casino, where they feared a shooting might be carried out targeting him and potentially harming innocent people as collateral damage.

Tekashi69 is facing 32 years to life behind bars if he's found guilty of the charges he faces.
