Victoria Beckham on why she's shunning Spice Girls reunion

Victoria 'Posh Spice' Beckham has confirmed that she won't be joining the other four members of the Spice Girls on their 2019 reunion tour.

Melanie 'Mel B' Brown, Emma Bunton, Geri Horner and Melanie Chisholm revealed details of the tour in an online video posted early on Tuesday morning (NZ time).

The Spice Girls will launch their tour in the English city of Manchester on June 1 as the first of six UK dates, with tickets going on sale this coming weekend.

Beckham was notably absent from the announcement, and took to Instagram with her own.

"Today marks a special day for the girls as they announce the first tour dates since we performed together in 2012," she said.

"I won't be joining my girls on stage again but being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish them so much love and fun as they go back on tour next year."

She added the hashtag #friendshipneverends and signed off her note "vb".

In the Spice Girls media release, they said Beckham wasn't joining due to "business commitments".

Mel B, who went on to judge The X Factor after her musical career, said that Beckham "might join" the tour at some point and "it'd be a shame if she didn't" in a UK TV interview.

Some days earlier, however, Mel B had thrown shade at Beckham by dressing as her for Halloween and holding a sign that read: "No I am not going on tour".

The Spice Girls have not yet announced tour dates outside of the UK.
