'We're gutted it's ending': Jono and Ben say emotional goodbye on final episode

After seven years of comedy gold, Jono Pryor and Ben Boyce have appeared one final time on Three's beloved Jono and Ben show.

The pair created more than 200 episodes together, putting at times their bodies and dignity on the line in the name of entertainment.

Thursday night's show included a reel of their greatest moments, a few foolhardy skits which had previously never made it to air and a guest performance by Stan Walker.

Newshub presenter Mike McRoberts stopped in to pay an emotional tribute to Jono and Ben, moving the funnymen to tears.

"We love having you as colleagues and having you on our channel, being such a big part of Three. You've made who we are, who we are," he said.

"On behalf of everyone from Three - particularly from my news colleagues - I want to say, we love you and we've thoroughly enjoyed seeing you perform and do what you've done over the years. We're all feeling it today, so thank you."

The grand finale was recorded on Wednesday night ahead of its broadcast on Three.

Following the announcement that show was coming to an end, Jono and Ben said they had loved every minute of creating television together.

"We're gutted it's ending - although to be honest it went six-and-a-half years longer than we ever thought it was going to," they said. "We put it down to the incriminating photos we have of some MediaWorks management.

"We're so proud of the whole team who have work so bloody hard on the show - apart from the times Guy got heaps of parking tickets in the work vehicle this year."

MediaWorks Chief Content Officer Andrew Szusterman says the comedy duo "remain very much a part of the MediaWorks family".

"The current format for Jono and Ben has been running for seven years, which for an entertainment show in New Zealand is almost unprecedented."

"I am really excited about what we can do in the future - we've already started discussing some ideas."

Jono and Ben will continue to host their radio show with Sharyn Casey on The Edge, which is broadcast 3pm - 7pm weekdays.
