US talk show host Wendy Williams has scolded Kiwi singer Lorde for accusing Kanye West and Kid Cudi of "stealing" her stage design, telling her not to be so "angry".

The 'Royals' hitmaker claimed the rappers had thieved her 2017 Coachella set-up of a large glass tank on stage, which they performed together in at a festival over the weekend.

Lorde created the stage with Es Devlin, who has since stated publicly she doesn't think the rappers stole the design - now Williams has also weighed in.

"How many ways are you going to spin a stage performance before you're all of a sudden biting off someone else's style?

"Well I must tell you. Lorde is - how old? ... Lorde, you're spending too much time being angry.

"Lorde, I tell you, you need to relax."

Williams stutters and shakes her head while delivering the monologue for dramatic effect.

"Lorde, we snooped. You're not the first person that did a glass box," Williams says before showing photos of Justin Bieber and Rihanna performing in glass boxes on stage.

She went on to suggest that Lorde's friendship with Taylor Swift could be the cause of her accusing Kanye of stealing.

The 'Shake it Off' hitmaker has famously been the subject of demeaning sexual lyrics by Kanye, who also lay beside a nude dummy modelled on her for one of his music videos. It started a feud between the pair, along with the 'Gold Digger' hitmaker's wife, Kim Kardashian.

Williams said she's disappointed that Lorde is friends with Swift, as she pictures her being friends with other "angry girls" such as Twilight star Kristen Stewart and Darlene Conner, the character from Roseanne.

Lorde, who was previously a huge fan of West's and cited him as an influence, has not responded to Williams or Devlin.
